My name is Evann. I’m a data scientist at Thresher, specializing in machine learning and natural language processing. I received my Ph.D. from Harvard in 2016 in Political Science, with a substantive focus on mass mobilization, Middle Eastern politics, and quantitative methods (which I use to answer meaningful questions pertaining to the former). Prior to that, I lived in Cairo, received an M.A. in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. with Honors in Political Science from Columbia University.
I care about questions. I am driven to find the best way to find the best answer. This pursuit makes me the happiest. I have a flair for the creative application of advanced methodologies across disciplines and fields (most of which don’t talk to each other). I also make a mean BBQ.
